Born in New York, but having spent the majority of the last two decades living as a global nomad and human rights professional abroad-in China, Eritrea, Egypt, the Netherlands, the UK, Italy, Kosovo, and Myanmar—Aurora’s art is informed by her interactions with a diverse spectrum of people, places, languages, politics, genders, and philosophies.
Working in various media, Aurora reconstructs a purposely flawed aesthetic with the materials she finds around her. Both explorative and provocative, her paintings, installations, and assemblages seek to challenge norms, juxtapose the political with the personal, and reveal beauty through chaos.
Aurora's relocation to San Diego, California, intentionally positions her at the intersection between Mexico and the US, where she can visually explore new contrasts, as well as engage in other ways, to continue to fight for the rights, respect, and dignity of all.
